In today’s fast-paced digital world, children are often surrounded by screens, with limited opportunities to learn through hands-on exploration. Curiblox, a proudly Made in India startup, is changing that narrative. With more than 100 STEM and robotics kits already available, the company is proving that toys can do more than entertain—they can build problem-solvers, creators, and innovators for a Vikshit Bharat.

How a Simple Moment Sparked a Big Idea

The idea behind Curiblox traces back to a small but striking incident. One day, Amiya Kumar Mishra went to a neighborhood electric shop to repair a toy car. The shop owner wasn’t there, but an eight-year-old boy stepped forward confidently and said he could fix it. Watching a child so young handle the task so effortlessly left Amiya wondering: What if every child had the skills and confidence to do the same?

This thought ignited a vision, and together with his wife Sonali Samantaray and close friend Debasish Swain, Amiya began a journey to give children across India access to STEM and robotics education.

The Struggles That Shaped the Path

The first attempt came in 2022 when the trio launched an online learning portal with more than 50 STEM courses. The goal was to reach students across India digitally. But ground realities posed a challenge—most children in Odisha did not own computers, and nearly 95% of schools lacked STEM and robotics labs. The initiative, though noble, failed to take off.

Amiya’s next idea was bold: create a specialized tablet device that could serve as a ready-to-use STEM and robotics lab for schools. This could have solved the infrastructure issue at once. However, manufacturing such a device required massive funding, and the project had to be shelved.

Refusing to give up, the founders reimagined the problem and found their breakthrough on the third attempt—developing age-specific STEM Kits. Portable, affordable, and easy to use, these kits became both personal innovation labs for students and affordable STEM labs for schools. This practical approach was scalable, sustainable, and most importantly, impactful.

The People Who Made It Possible

During this turning point, Ramkinkar Mishra, a close friend of Amiya, joined the mission. The startup received its first real push when Mr. Bijay Tibrewal stepped in as an angel investor, helping the team rebuild and expand.

Curiblox’s growth was further fueled by the guidance of mentors and visionaries like Santosh Mishra, Subham, Debasish Chakraborty, Agnelo, Vikash Rathod, and Alexzander Das, who supported R&D and product development. Throughout these ups and downs, Amiya’s friends Nivedita, Mahavir, and Spandan stood firmly by his side, offering encouragement when failures threatened to derail the dream.

Together, they transformed Curiblox from a small idea into a national movement.

Recognitions and Achievements

Today, Curiblox stands as a recognized Startup India and Startup Odisha venture, and is proudly incubated at IIT Bhubaneswar’s Entrepreneurship Park. With 100+ STEM and robotics kits and toys, the company has become a pioneer in creating screen-free, eco-friendly learning solutions aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
