MUMBAI, INDIA: Bahrain’s renowned artist Zainab Bassai has achieved yet another milestone by winning second place at the Global Contemporary Art Show 2025, held this week in Mumbai. Her acclaimed entry, “A lady with the rose,” drew admiration for its textured knife strokes, rich cultural symbolism, and modern interpretation of Gulf heritage.

The jury described her piece as “a powerful marriage of traditional artistry and contemporary vision that speaks to audiences across cultures.” With over 200 international participants, Bassai’s recognition at this event highlights her growing influence in the global art scene.

Best known for her innovative Lipan Art adaptations, layered knife-painting techniques, and personalized commissions, Bassai has built a reputation for balancing cultural preservation with modern creativity. Her textured style—often marked by bold strokes and luminous surfaces—has become a signature admired by collectors worldwide.

Reacting to the award, Bassai said:
“Winning the Excellence Prize here in Mumbai is deeply special. India has always been a country that celebrates art in all its forms, and for my work to be recognized on this stage is both humbling and inspiring.”

Her work has steadily gained traction among art collectors in the Middle East, India, and Europe, with paintings often acquired as long-term investments as well as personal treasures.

Beyond her artistic practice, Bassai continues to mentor emerging talents through workshops and private training, playing a key role in encouraging the next generation of artists in Bahrain and beyond.
