Social entrepreneurship has been around for more than 150 years since it was first coined in 1854 by American author, philanthropist, and abolitionist Frederick Henry Hedge. Social entrepreneurship is simply the act of creating for-profit organizations that aim to generate both social and economic benefits.

Social entrepreneurs have been leading the way in solving society’s ills for centuries. Entrepreneurship has been a key factor in the success of many social innovations, from infrastructure projects to healthcare reform.

Social Entrepreneurship is not a new concept. It has been around for centuries, and it simply means that an organisation or individual strives to balance social and environmental justice with economic profit.

The earliest example of Social Entrepreneurship is when people would trade goods and services in order to serve their community. This is why we have farmers markets today because they were an early form of social entrepreneurship that served the community by bringing everyone together for one big task.

Social entrepreneurship refers to the ways in which private enterprise is used for public benefit and/or to solve social problems. Social Entrepreneurship is a term that has been around for a long time. In fact, this type of entrepreneurship should be considered as old as entrepreneurship itself. Social entrepreneurs are not necessarily doing philanthropy but rather creating jobs, building businesses or improving people’s lives in some way.

Social entrepreneurship is not new. It has been around for centuries, even millennia. The earliest forms of social entrepreneurship may have been the Jewish prophets who went door to door selling their goods.

Social entrepreneurship is not new, but it has become magnified within the past few decades. It was first identified in the 1920s when American sociologist Jane Addams identified that social problems can be solved with business solutions. Social entrepreneurs are individuals who identify and address social needs, often having a dual purpose to generate profit for themselves and/or their investors.
